FLIGHT DECK (71 K)

Aboard the Fighting Lady ...

The flight deck of the American carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5, aka "The Fighting Lady") is jammed with aircraft as she patrols a quiet stretch of the Pacific. The Yorktown, a floating runway nearly three football fields long, was home to 85 aircraft of four main types: Wildcats, Avengers, Dauntless dive-bombers, and Devastator torpedo-bombers.
