PROPAGANDA CIGARETTE

Propaganda Cigarette ...

This photo shows a very scarce package of "propaganda cigarettes" that were air-dropped over Holland on the 61st birthday of Queen Wilhelmina in 1941. The slogan says "Orange Will Overcome" (the House of Orange was the ruling royal house of Holland) and "The Netherlands Will Rise Again." The package was orange and decorated with a "V for Victory" design. Over one million of these packs were dropped, and they are extremely difficult to find today. Photo dated October 14, 1941.
