Posted inWW II Photos Sad Reminder Posted by By larry.m.belmont January 4, 2022 Two Marines killed in action on Enogi, New Georgia Island, rest under simple wooden crosses, reminding us all of the cost of freedom. Someone has taken the time to render the names and serial numbers of the fallen pair on the bottom of their canteen cups, and attached them to the markers. The photo is dated 24 September 1943; nearly two more years will pass and thousands more Marines will die before Japan surrenders. larry.m.belmont View All Posts Post navigation Previous Post Japanese FoolNext PostCarentan O Carentan
